The Health Information and Quality Authority has published its most recent inspection report on Portumna Retirement Village and has again endorsed the centre’s reputation as a centre of excellence in elderly care. The inspectorate conducted an announced inspection during April and were very impressed by the high standard of professional care that they witnessed. The report praises the proactive management of the centre and the commitment of the management and staff to resident care and in dealing with adverse events. Commenting on the report, Peter Feerick General Manager said that it was pleasing to note that HIQA had recognised the ethos of the centre, which is to continually improve and that the report recognised the close relationship that exists between management, staff, the residents, relatives and the community in the Portumna area.
