The Health Information and Quality Authority published its report following an unannounced inspection conducted on 14th September.
At a time when many nursing homes have been criticised for failing to meet standards, the management and staff at Portumna Retirement Village are very proud and delighted that HIQA have recognised their hard work and commitment to residents.
The report was focused very much on restrictive practices and the inspector wrote very positively about the quality of life enjoyed by the residents with meaningful social interaction. The inspector's report highlighted the professionalism and kindness of the staff when dealing with residents.
This inspection was the first since 2022, when Portumna Retirement Village achieved the highest grade in all twenty standards inspected, - a feat achieved by only a handful of nursing homes in the country during the year.
